Pope Leo XIV’s Visit to Paris 2026: Traffic, Parking and Car Parks

On 25 and 26 September 2026, Paris will welcome Pope Leo XIV for a visit marked by several events in the capital, including a popemobile route, allowing the Pope to greet the faithful in the streets of Paris, and an open-air mass. The route will notably pass through Notre-Dame-des-Champs and Place Saint-Michel, while the mass will be held near Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Élysées. See the official visit programme

These gatherings will mean a major security operation, with traffic and parking restrictions in several areas. See the security perimeters

If you plan to come to the capital by car, it is best to plan your parking in advance and choose a Paris car park that allows you to continue your journey easily on foot or by public transport.

Friday 25 September: getting to the Pope’s route

On Friday 25 September, the popemobile route is scheduled from 4 pm to 5 pm, between Notre-Dame-des-Champs and Place Saint-Michel, over approximately 2.5 km.

The area will be subject to significant traffic and parking restrictions. Traffic will be prohibited within the protection perimeter from 6 am to 8 pm.

If you want to see the Pope go by, choose a car park outside the restricted perimeter, then finish your trip on foot or by public transport.

Saturday 26 September: getting to the mass

The mass is scheduled for Saturday 26 September at 3 pm, in the area of Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Élysées.
Car access will be highly restricted around the celebration site. Several metro stations will also be closed while security measures are in place.

To avoid access difficulties, the easiest option is to park outside the affected area, then continue your trip by public transport or on foot.
