The Bpi settles in the heart of Bercy: a new chapter begins…

Starting Monday, August 25, 2025, the Bibliothèque publique d’information (Bpi) of the Centre Pompidou will reopen in its temporary location, the Lumière building, at 40 Avenue des Terroirs de France (12th arrondissement).
This new site, spanning over 8,000 m², preserves the spirit of the Bpi. Key facilities include:

  • 1,500 workstations and 220 computer terminals

  • Themed spaces: self-learning, music (albums, vinyl, pianos), video game lounge, printing services, cafeteria, soundproof booths, music production stations...

  • Enhanced accessibility: adapted spaces, specialized equipment, LSF-guided visits, hearing loops, and more

A new cultural momentum is emerging in Bercy, steeped in history: the Lumière district, a former hub for the wine trade (Cour Saint-Émilion), is now reinvented as a vibrant student and cultural center, with nearby campuses, university centers, the BnF, and municipal libraries.
